Two IHF members came back from the mobility to Iceland in the framework of “Remote Regions in Adult Education: a resource for Europe” (AEERR), a Project co-financed by the European Commission within the Erasmus+ Programme, Key Action 1, Learning Mobility of Individuals.

The mobility took place from June 22nd to July 4th 2017 and involved three hosting partners in three different locations: The Husavik Academic Centre in Husavik, Framhaldsskòlinn in Laugar and Mimir Simmentun in Reykjavik.

Husavik Academic Centre is aimed at promoting lifelong learning, higher education and interdisciplinary research. The centre serves all of Thingeyjarsyslur region. Husavik city is recently developing an important touristic industry so there will be great opportunities for partnerships in the future. Projects related to the development of sustainable and environmental friendly tourism would be really appreciated in this area.

Framhaldsskòlinn in Laugar is an important school in a scarcely populated zone. Here, interesting opportunities of cooperation in the field of development of ICT tools for education arose.

Mimir Simenntun is an education organisation that works in the field of secondary education and vocational education. At Mimir, IHF’s staff members discussed about the general structure, needs and peculiarities of the educational system of Adult Education in Iceland.
